Dennis Praet leaves Leicester City and signs for Torino

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet has left the club and signed for Italian side Torino on the final hours of the deadline day.

The 27-year-old joined the Premier League club back in 2019 from Sampdoria for around €21 million. The midfielder could not showcase his talent in English football and found it difficult to break into Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven.

According to the report, Praet has joined Torino on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for around €15 million. The Belgian had a stellar time previously in Serie A for the Blucerchiati and will be looking to rejuvenate his career in the Italian league after failing to prove himself at the King Power Stadium.

Praet joins Torino from Leicester City:

The Bulls have started the season on a disappointing note under the new manager Iván Juric and suffered two narrow defeats in a row against Fiorentina and Atalanta.

Signing Praet will provide strength in depth for Torino. The midfielder can play in midfield double pivot as well as box-to-box role. He is good in short passing and also contributes in defence. The Belgian’s addition will make a strong midfield for the Italian side.

On the other hand, following the arrival of Boubacary Soumare, the Foxes are well stacked in the midfield department and Praet’s departure will free up the wage bill for the King Power club. So, it was a very good deal for both parties to part ways.

Meanwhile, after a disappointing loss to West Ham United, Rodgers’ side have returned to the winning ways against Norwich City last weekend. Currently, the Foxes are sitting in the mid-table with six points in three games. Leicester will be looking to mount a challenge for the top four spots this term after missing out narrowly on the last two occasions. However, it will not be easy this season either. So, it will be interesting to see how far they can go this season.
