Didi Hamann sees Borussia Dortmund as Bundesliga Champions this season

Borussia Dortmund

Bundesliga is one of the most exciting football leagues in the world. Bayern Munich has dominated the German top flight for the last decade comfortably. Borussia Dortmund has failed to dethrone the Bavarians as the German champions repeatedly.

However, Didi Hamann, a former Bayern Munich player believes that Borussia Dortmund will win the Bundesliga ahead of Bayern Munich this season. The former Bayern player believes that the club has made the right signings to compete with Bayern Munich and possibly dethrone them.

Hamann made a similar prediction last season, however, the German was proved to be wrong by the Bavarians. The Die Roten ran riot in the Bundesliga and secured the title quite comfortably. Bayern Munich seems to be the favorite to lift the title again this season.

Borussia Dortmund will Bundesliga due to their impressive transfer activity

Didi Hamann believes that the club has brought players that are suited to play in different positions along with a sense of team spirit. He believes that a title-winning side requires hard workers as well apart from superstars which according to him, Bayern has a dearth of.

The German legend said that:

“With (Nico) Schlotterbeck and (Niklas) Süle, they have brought in two of the best German central defenders. At the back, they have been vulnerable so far. Plus Karim Adeyemi up front and Salih Özcan in midfield. Özcan himself, or at least this type of player, a worker, I would have liked to see for Bayern as well. You need these players, this mix. Too many performers are not good. I have the feeling that Bayern have one or two too many of those.”

The Former Liverpool and Bayern Munich man further said:

“Bayern have bought well, from the names and from paper. But you also need workers and water carriers. That’s why they are now interested in Konrad Laimer. You can’t just have players who want to go out in front and say: ‘I’m the man.’ I’m curious if they can get the mix right.”

There is still a long way to go before the end of the season and it will be interesting to see if Dietmar Hamann will be proved wrong for the second successive season or if he will rejoice with his prediction this time around!!
