Diego Simeone responds to Joao Felix transfer

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has responded to the transfer rumours linking Joao Felix and Chelsea Football Club.

It was during the pre-match press conference ahead of Atletico’s La Liga season opener against Villarreal that Simeone made remarks regarding the transfer saga. Atleti and Chelsea have been in contact since the start of the transfer window regarding the transfers of Conor Gallagher and Samu Omorodion. While the Omorodion deal is 100% off, the deal for Gallagher was left in a limbo. Now, it looks like Joao Felix has entered the equation and is heading to the Stamford Bridge.

THE NEVER ENDING TRANSFER SAGA

Chelsea and Atletico had earlier agreed deals in principle for the transfer of Conor Gallagher to Madrid and Samu Omorodion to London. Everything was agreed between both the clubs. Two deals which was considered seperate but was co-dependednt in nature. It was all good until Samu Omorodion’s transfer to Chelsea collapsed in the last minute. Omorodion was in London but due to some issues with the contract it fell through. Then Atletico had to find funds for completing the Gallagher transfer so they had to put Joao Felix into the equation. He was quick to agree personal terms with the west london club. And talks are in the final stages now to agree a fee between bothe clubs. Chelsea’s move for Felix is heading in the right direction and this deal will also help Atleti complete the signing of Conor Gallagher.

WHAT DID DIEGO SIMEONE SAY?

While reports are favouring Chelsea to complete the transfer of Felix transfer this week. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone was seen messing with the media hinting at Joao Felix playing for him against Villarreal. Which was proved false since Felix was not even in the matchday squad for Los Roji Blancos. The Argentine manager went on to compliment Felix for his work ethic and “commitment” the word he said.

‘His behaviour is what is expected of any footballer at Atleti… commitment, training in the best way, ready for whatever is proposed to him and competing with team-mates. ‘

‘Time will tell if we can use him tomorrow or not.’ Diego Simeone said as per the Metro News

Anyway Joao Felix wasn’t on the team for Atleti on Monday and this surely hints at the transfer rumours coming true. The reports say the agreement between Chelsea and Atleti are getting closer.

JOAO FELIX TO CHELSEA IMMINENT

The reports say that Joao Felix to Chelsea deal will be sealed this week. Felix had a six month stint at Chelsea which was underwhelming. He could only score 4 goals in 20 appearences. Even though Chelsea management and Joao Felix were keen on making the permanent move happen. The then Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochetino vetoed the decision and that move didn’t materialize. Now again Joao Feliz has arrived a solution for the messed up situation Chelsea and Atleti are dealing with. The Blues desperately want Gallagher out and Atleti are in a position to sell Felix. With the Omorodion deal off this was the solution to make both the clubs happy. Barcelona were interested in Felix after his loan spell but decided not to sign due to high price demands.

As per the reports from Metro News Chelsea’s latest bid around 44 million pounds including add onns matches with Atleti’s valuation. This could mean one thing. We might see an official announcement from both the sides this week itself. Connor Gallagher had already completed the first part of medical, photoshoots and the contract signings. But had to return to london because of the other deal collapsing. Now it seems the deal is going through.
