Diogo Jota has reportedly caught the attention of several Saudi Pro League clubs. Meanwhile, Liverpool gear up to shake things up in their attacking line.
The Portuguese forward could be leaving this season. He is having a poor season so far. He has only scored once in 15 games since February, when he got injured. The striker was unused as a substitute for the Reds’ last two games in the league.
Luis Diaz being preferred in recent games. The questions are starting to surround Jota’s long-term future under incoming manager Arne Slot. Reports suggest that Saudi clubs are seriously considering a bid fro him. He will be joining the list of interested parties that already includes admirers of Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Both Diogo and Diaz have two years left on their contracts. Arne Slot’s side appear willing to entertain offers for both.
Summer Shake-Up Could Include Few Exits
The Merseyside club are likely to conduct business in the summer transfer market They could be open to letting the Portuguese attacker go if a solid offer lands on the table.
The club is already looking for a new striker. In addition, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is rising as a possible signing. They might also want a new winger.
Jota has been a good contributor since arriving from Wolves in 2020. He has managed to score 65 goals in 179 appearances so far. Although, his injury record and inconsistent minutes have raised concerns. Despite his decent goal tally, he has only played more than 35 games in a season once. Additionally, this term he’s managed just nine goals in 34 appearances.
With UAE clubs circling and the Reds planning a partial rebuild, a big-money move could be on the cards. However, it remains to be seen if any offers will meet Liverpool’s expectations. And Jota can also choose to stay and fight for his place next season.
