Don Hutchison: Neymar should regret leaving Barcelona

Chelsea rumors

Don Hutchison believes there’s no place for Neymar in Liverpool. The pundit wonders why he ever left Barcelona for PSG in the first place.

Neymar has been looking for a move away from Paris Saint-Germain after spending 6 years there. The 30-year-old proved to be worthy of the $232 million he was signed for. However, as time went by, his form has been going nowhere but down.

In addition to his troubles, Neymar has risen to the top and Lionel Messi signed for the Parisians in 2021. This removed the spotlight from him completely. The Brazillian no longer wants to play in someone else’s shadow and has opted for a transfer.

Don Hutchison’s take on Neymar

The ESPN pundit thinks Neymar made a mistake leaving Barcelona in 2017. He wondered why the world-class striker chose to throw away his colorful life in Catalunya away and leave for PSG.

“I think he must put his head on the pillow every night and think ‘why on earth did I make that move when I was flying at Barcelona, with Messi and Suarez, to go to PSG?'”

Hutchison according to HITC.

On the other hand, he also understands Neymar’s intentions of not wanting to play in Messi’s shadow. Apart from this, he also wanted to win a Ballon D’Or which would never happen when Leo is around.

“Not Liverpool Material” -Hutchison

The pundit also stated his views on Neymar joining Liverpool if at all the winger signs for the Premier League. Neymar scored 100 goals and assisted 60 times in just 144 games for Paris Saint-Germain. This mentality will surely help a striker but not in Anfield.

“You look at the top four teams outside of England, no one can afford him. Then there are teams like Liverpool, who don’t really want him because he wouldn’t fit into their system,”

Don added.

Hutchison believes, the Reds’ long ball counter-attacking won’t suit Neymar’s playstyle. Moreover, Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager has signed Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz looks settled in the league. This leaves no place for the 6-time Champions League winners to sign the player.

Above all, it comes down to finances and the club can’t afford the Brazillian’s wages. Especially after spending £68 million on Nunez to bring him from Benfica.

Where should Neymar join this summer?

Coming to transfers, the Brazillian doesn’t want to focus on that topic for a while. He is more concerned about the World Cup that commences in 4 months & prioritizes that more than anything else. However, since a transfer will happen at some time or the other, all roads lead to Liverpool’s rivals Chelsea.

A move to Stamford Bridge?

Chelsea is ready to spend up to £200 million on this transfer window. The club’s new owner Todd Boehly has offered Thomas Tuchel the chance to bring in new talents. The Blues are currently the favorites to sign Neymar compared to the other 5 teams in the Big Six.

In conclusion, this is a conversation not worth having because Liverpool is not going to strengthen their attack depth anymore. With the World Cup around the corner, Neymar won’t be making moves any soon.
