Borussia Dortmund are planning a raid on Chelsea once again this season just like last season. This time they are planning a move for another left back who Chelsea are keen to sale. The fullback is Ben Chilwell who won the UCL title in his first season with Chelsea.
Dortmund did an amazing business last season when they signed Ian Maatsen on loan from Chelsea. The left back was very good at Germany and helped Dortmund to reach the UCL final. The German giants were keen to sign him permanently.
But, Maatsen joined Aston Villa instead for a fee around £38 million. Now, Dortmund are once again plotting a similar move for Blues star although they also have tabs on another Premier League fullback.
Dortmund planning a move for Chilwell who Chelsea are keen to sale
The Blues were keen to sale Ben Chilwell this summer. The English international has fallen down the pecking order. He is currently third choice fullback for Enzo Maresca. But, The Blues were unable to sale Chilwell due to his ongoing injuries.
Chilwell has already played 1 match this season under Maresca but is still very likely to be sold. Now as per Team Talk, Dortmund are interested to sign Chilwell. Along with Chilwell they are also keeping tabs on Milos Kerkez who plays for Bournemouth.
The German giants may make a move to sign Chilwell on loan this January. If they need a permanent solution they might go after Kerkez who is very young than Chilwell.
Another thing that may prevent Chilwell from getting permanent offer is his injury issues. The 27 year old defender has been highly injury prone in the recent years. Infact he was fully fit in only his first season at Chelsea. After that, Chilwell has missed many matches which has affected his performances on the pitch.
Along with Dortmund, Manchester United are also linked with Chilwell. They are another club who are in need of left back. Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have been injury prone and yet to play a single match this season.
