Dusan Vlahovic shines on Champions League debut for Juventus

The latest big-money signing Dusan Vlahovic shined on his Champions League debut for Juventus. Juventus signed Vlahovic from Fiorentina in January. The deal was a big-money move that involved Juventus paying a massive 65 million to Fiorentina.

The Serbian striker grabbed 17 goals for Fiorentina in the first half of this season. His profile made him one of the hottest prospects going into the summer. However, Juventus were quick to react and snapped up the striker in the winter transfer window itself.

Vlahovic scored on his Serie A debut for Juventus in a 2-0 win against Hellas Verona alongside new signing Denis Zakaria. However, the free-scoring striker from Fiorentina has struggled to fit in the environment at Juventus. He went three games without scoring which by his standards are poor.

A victim of his own brilliance, Vlahovic attracted criticism from the footballing world. Vlahovic though found a perfect way to shut his critics in his debut Champions League match against defending Europa League winners Villareal FC.

32 Seconds into the round of 16 tie against Villareal, Vlahovic found the back of the net with a neat and calm finish. The biggest club competition, the Champions League did not intimidate him as he slotted the ball into the net calmly.

Vlahovic only required half a chance to give Juventus the lead and showed everyone that he is a danger that needs to be dealt with. However, he is yet to hit the consistency levels he achieved at Fiorentina. Juventus expect to be patient with him as he is still only 21. It remains to be seen if he can match the level of Mbappe and Haaland and be the wildcard entry to a two-way race. We might have another superstar at our discretion.
