Anthony Gordon opens up about his failed move to Chelsea
Gordon recently opened up about his failed move to Chelsea. He gave the exact reasons and said why he was keen to join the Blues. Chelsea fans will have a mixed review on wheter it was a hit or miss to not sign the 23 year old.
Firstly, Gordon said that the reason he was keen to join Chelsea was Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel was Chelsea manager at that time and he was the one interested to secure the signature of Gordon.
“I spoke to him after the game, when I played for Everton and we played Chelsea. I spoke to him after the game when I shook his hand. That was about it. He said some really complementary things to me, which I’ll keep to myself” – Gordon speaking about talks with Tuchel.
Gordon then opened up more about Thomas Tuchel and how he made the player keen to join his side. He also had regret of not being able to play for the German coach.
“I spoke to him and I felt a lot of warmth from him, which then made me really want to play for him. I didn’t get that chance. It was quite close to be honest. I was desperate to go at the time and work with him, especially. I felt like my style would suit his style of play” – Gordon on why he was interested to join Chelsea.
Lastly, Gordon said that he was unlucky to not play under Tuchel but is now interested to play under him for England. Tuchel is now new England manager and hence Gordon has a chance to fulfill his dream of playing under his preferred coach.
