East Bengal beat reigning I-League Champions Gokulam Kerela in pre-season friendly

East Bengal scripted a 2-1 victory over reigning I-League champions Gokulam Kerela FC in a pre-season friendly. The two esteemed clubs clashed in a heavyweight friendly and put on an entertaining show for the crowd.

The mercurial forward Balwant Singh gave East Bengal the lead after a slow start to the game. Angousana, the anchor of their midfield doubled the lead in the added time of the first half.

The outfit from Kerela tried to claw their way back into the game after scoring through Rahim, but failed to break the defense line of East Bengal.

With the Indian Super League fast approaching, both teams will be glad to have managed to get some minutes under their belt. The Indian Super League begins on November 19 at Margao. All the matches will be played in Goa.

The side from Bengal is now on unbeaten in their friendlies and are expect to enter the competition with confidence and expectations. Meanwhile, the team from Kerala kickstart their season in December and will hope to get back to winning ways.
