East Bengal vs Kerala Blasters: Match Preview

Wolves

SC East Bengal lock horns with Kerala Blasters on Sunday in their sixth match in the Hero Indian Super League 2021-22. The Torchbearers are at the wrong end of the table with two draws and three losses while Kerala are in 7th place with one win, two draws and a loss.

Will Ivan Vukomanovic get his second win in the league or will the Kolkata giants finally break their jinx?

The Stakes

SC East Bengal

Despite an impressive performance in the pre-season friendlies, SC East Bengal have struggled to cope up with other teams in the ISL. However, except for a leaky defence, much of their attacking department is playing quite good. Against Odisha and FC Goa, they managed to score 7 goals in total despite conceding 10 goals.

It would be an exciting encounter between Daniel Chima and Antonio Perošević against the Adrian Luna – Alvaro Vazquez or Jorge Pereyra Diaz duo. Arindam Bhattacharya, Jackichand Singh and Darren Sidoel are sidelined with injuries.

Kerala Blasters

On the other hand, Kerala Blasters have broken their curse of 11 consecutive matches without a win. The Yellow Brigade got a well-deserved win against a new-look Odisha FC, who suffered their first-ever loss in the ISL this season. However, the injury concerns such as that of Albino Gomes and Rahul KP are worrying for the side. As a result, Prabhsukhan Gill might be the new custodian.

Last time around, both the teams failed to score the winning goal and were held 1-1 in both the fixtures.
