Eddie Nketiah to join Arsenal in their US tour and leave

According to the reports, Eddie Nketiah will be joining the Gunners for their US pre-season tour.

Arsenal came agonizingly close to securing the Premier League title last season however lost out to Man City by two points. This summer, the Gunners will be aiming to bring the Silverware to the Emirates to end the trophy drought.

Arsenal is gearing up for their US pre-season tour and reports indicate that Nketiah will be taking part in it although it seems the Englishman will be leaving the side soon. Mikel Arteta has deemed the 25-year-old surplus to requirements. Further, he is anticipated to go from his boyhood club before the August 31 deadline. Arteta is eyeing to sell the striker before the upcoming title charge in the hope of raising some more funds.

Arsenal is keen on securing a £30million-plus fee for the 25-year-old. It is believed that fellow clubs including West Ham and Crystal Palace are eager to sign the English player. Further, Everton might also join the bid if Dominic Calvert-Lewin was to leave.

Arsenal ready to let Eddie Nketiah go

Nketiah has spent most of his football career with the Gunners. He left the club only once that too on a loan in 2019-20 going to Leeds United to have a rather disappointing run with the side.

Ever since the 25-year-old’s story at Arsenal has remained more of a part-time player. The striker has spent most of his time on the bench. Last season too, Nketiah managed to make 10 appearances only in the Premier League but still scored five goals. Regardless, the Englishman has a reputable stat of scoring a Premier League goal every 211 minutes. This becomes even more impressive when you consider that he spends most of his time on the bench.

Anyway, it looks like Nketiah will be joining the Gunners for their pre-season tour in the US. Mikel Arteta’s side will be taking on Bournemouth on July 24, and then three days later, in Los Angeles, they play Manchester United. Following that, they will face Liverpool in Philidelphia on the 31st of July before making a return to London. After arriving, they will be facing German League Champions Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon.

Nketiah has joined the training. The 25-year-old missed out on the Euros 2024 squad for England.

Future for Nketiah

As of now the future of Eddie Nketiah seems to be out of the Arsenal. Other than the Premier League clubs, the English striker is also sought by Ligue 1 Club Marseille as per the latest reports. However, any deal would ultimately depend on the price tag that the Gunners go for. The French club has already reportedly sent an initial proposal to the Gunners. The talks are reportedly ON between the clubs so let’s see how things proceed there.

As mentioned the price can go as high as up to £30 million but it is for sure that the Gunners won’t settle for £20 million+.

Seemingly, the Gunners are eager to sell players before they welcome new ones to the side. Further given the contract of Nketiah is until 2027, Arsenal might not want to rush the sale. But at the same time, his salary of £100k per week would mean a big boost for Arsenal.

Nevertheless, let’s see how the pre-season unfolds for the Gunners.
