Edu Gaspar leaves Arsenal after 5 years of service

Former Gunners player Edu Gaspar was one of the main reasons behind Arsenal’s uprise in the Premier League for the past couple of years. After 14 long years since leaving, he re-joined the Arsenal camp back in 2019 as a Technical Director.

With his passion and love he progressed through the ranks of the Gunners management. In 2022, Edu was promoted to fill the role of a Sporting Director. Where he had the authority of men’s, women’s and academy level football. Scouting new talents, contacting with camps, keeping financial tracks, Edu had to manage it all.

Under his reign, the Gunners managed to bring in some wonderful players, who are now the key part of the squad. Edu was heavily involved while signing the likes of captain Odegaard, Gabriel, Rice and others. But after 5 years of service, Edu Gaspar has resigned from the role of Arsenal’s Sporting Director last week.

Edu Gaspar rejects Arsenal’s offer to join Nottingham Forest

After leaving Arsenal last week, Edu Gaspar has joined the Evangelos Marinakis group to work in a similar kind of role. This group consists of three football clubs- Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos and Rio Ave. It is revealed that, Edu will be earning three times of his salary at the London based club.

However, as per the reports of Football 365, the Gunners did put a offer with a mouth watering salary for Edu Gaspar to stay at the club. But the 46-year-old was already adamant to join Nottingham Forest. This might sound rude to the fans and they may ask questions about Edu’s love towards the club.

But the decision was not only money related. Edu wants to enlarge his circle of work, as he dreams of becoming a Global head in football. He will be forever remembered as an Arsenal legend, for what he has done so far for the club.
