Emil Benny the new rising star of Indian Football From Kerala

The 20-year-old Indian mid-fielder Emil Benny is contacted to Gokulam Kerala FC has been class above then the rest. As he gave one of the most exciting images of this season’s I-League.

Coming from Wayanad, Emil Benny was adjudged as the “Best Emerging Player” of the League which was held at Kolkata and won by Gokulam Kerala. Not only that Emil also got awarded as the “Player of The Match” in the decisive match against TRAU FC.

On Friday, Benny was also honored at a function at kalpetta, where he went to school and his footballing journey. Emils’s journey now is nothing less than a fairy-tale. Shortly after the function ended Emil spoke to a newspaper called “The Hindu” where he stated that “I never imagined that I could get to play in the I-League so early in my career, let alone be part of the champion side and score a goal in the deciding match“.

Benny wanted to play as a striker but, coach Vincenzo Alberto made him play as an attacking midfielder. Being the versatile player Benny adapted according to the coach’s command and was happy to play as an attacking midfielder. Emil also added “I owe a lot to him; but for him, I would not have played in the I-League at all. He promoted me to Gokulam’s main side from the reserves.”

The coach was also happy saying that Emil will be playing in Indian National Team for a long time. As Alberto believes that there no Indian player is better than him in one-on-one situations, Emil has fine dribbling skills which made him stand out and Emil is quite quick too.

The beginning of Emil Benny’s Journey to the Top with Gokulam Kerala

Benny was good at dribbling since the beginning of his football career when Emil used to play for SKMJ Higher Secondary School, Kalpetta. Emil used to play at his village, but Emil’s game improved drastically only when he started playing under coach G.S Baiju.

Emil also learnt a lot playing under coach Binoy at MSP Academy Malapurram. From there he was selected by Gokulam’s technical director Bino George, under whom he played for Kerala in the Santosh Trophy Qualifying tournament in 2019.

Emil admires Sunil Chhetri and I.M. Vijayan and his Idol is Ronaldinho, no wonder where he got the inspiration for his ponytail.
