New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is already turning quite a few heads. The Italian manager joined the club after leading Leicester City to the EFL 1 title. The 44-year-old had a tough start with his time at the Blues. In the pre-season US tour, he only managed to win 1 game. Then, he went on to lose his first Premier League game to Man City. To make matters worse, his team were unable to score and they lost at home. As per wikipedia, as of now, he has a 57.14% win rate with the London club. But, he has tried to turn things around. The Blues have managed to win 3 of their league games, losing and drawing one each. They also have a 100% record away from home under the new manager.
Fingers raised at Enzo Maresca and Chelsea
Many have criticized the Blues for spending too much. At the same time, they believe that the London side are overloaded in forward positions. Especially, on the flanks. They went on to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves. They also added Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid to their lineup. Marc Guiu was also signed as a forward from Barcelona. Then, they also bought Jadon Sancho from Man Utd in the dying days of the transfer window. But, Enzo Maresca recently clarified of his plans for each of the players.
Fans impressed by the manager’s response
The 44-year-old goes on to clearly state how each of the forward fits into his plans. He explains that he has a backup for each of the forward positions to maintain squad depth. Sancho and Mudryk on the left, Madueke and Neto on the right, Palmer and Felix as attacking midfielder and Jackson and Nkunku up front. The fact that most of these players are flexible is just a bonus for the manager. Enzo Maresca would stress that it allowed easy rotation of players and exercising tactics with Chelsea. At the same time, it is quite notable that the manager went on to miss out Marc Guiu’s name. Nonetheless, as of now, it seems that he has got it all under control.
