Everton boss confirms interest in Chelsea target

Everton boss David Moyes has confirmed their interest in young striker. The player is top target for Chelsea in the summer transfer market. Lastly, Man United and Newcastle United are also in the mix.

The star in question here is Liam Delap of Ipswich Town. He is 22 years old English striker who joined Tractor Boys last summer. Ever since then, Delap has been superb in the Premier League. He has scored 12 goals and picked 2 assists.

Ipswich are very happy with Delap but will lose him this summer. They are relegated and Delap is too good to play in Championship. His £30 million release clause is now activated and is already looked upon by top clubs.

Chelsea have Delap as their top target as Enzo Maresca wants a new striker. The Italian has already worked with Delap and hence admires him. The Blues are ready to back Maresca and are already doing all they can to land Delap.

On the other hand, United are also willing to sign Delap and make him their new number nine. Lastly, Newcastle United may lose Alexander Isak this summer. This will force them to sign a new striker as soon as possible and they are also showing interest in Delap.

Everton join the race for Delap

Everton are the latest club to have linked with Delap. They are willing to sign a new striker as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to leave. Calvert-Lewin will leave as a free agent and the Toffees want him to replace with Delap. Their interest in 22 year old is confirmed by David Mayes.

“He would be one who we would certainly have an interest in. I think what he probably has to look at will probably be bigger than what we are. So, we would certainly be interested if he was interested in us. That’s for sure” – Moyes to media via The Mirror.

Delap has many good options around him to pick from. Hence, Everton can be looked upon as underdogs in the race. But, the Toffees can surely provide Delap with more regular game-time than the other top clubs. It will be interesting to see which club Delap chooses this summer.
