Everton vs Chelsea: Preview, Team News, and Predicted Line-ups

Everton host in-form Chelsea in matchday 12 of the Premier League on Saturday night at Goodison Park.

Chelsea travel to Everton with an opportunity to go top momentarily before Tottenham Hostpur play on Sunday. Chelsea with 4 wins in the last 5 matches are 2 points off the league leaders Spurs. Their opponents Everton are on a downward spiral with only 1 win in the last 5 games.

Manager Carlo Ancelloti would want to change the fortunes around with a victory over his former employers.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was part of the Carlo Ancelotti’s League and FA Cup double-winning Chelsea team in 2009-10. Frank Lampard got the better of Carlo last time in a thumping 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea comes to this fixture on the back of a 3-1 victory against Leeds United. Everton drew 1-1 in a disappointing outing against Burnley.

Chelsea’s summer signing Hakim Ziyech is ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury against Leeds United. Callum Hudson Odoi is also ruled out. Frank Lampard is worrying about the fitness of Christian Pulisic, who is yet to gain full fitness after recovering from the injury.

Everton are still sweating on the fitness of first-choice full-backs Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman. Both are expected to miss this weekend’s fixture against Chelsea. Back up choice midfielder Fabian Delph also picked up a knock in the last outing at Burnley.

Predicted Line-Up:

“I’ve been influenced by people and I was influenced by him as a player and as a man at the time,” “He’s right at the top when I speak about the managers I’ve worked with – his huge success he has had in his career, working at various clubs and one-to-one I found him a great coach and a great man.

“As I say, he influenced me and I very much at all times look forward to seeing him and speaking to him.”

– Frank Lampard on Carlo Ancelotii

‘I think he’s doing really well.

‘He did really well before Chelsea, he did really well last season and Chelsea are doing really well now.

It’s necessary for us to have a fantastic and top, top performance. The question is are we able to do this? The answer, my personal opinion today, is yes, we are able to compete

– Carlo Ancelotii on Chelsea

Chelsea are an in-form team at the moment and it is highly unlikely they drop the points. But an away match at Goodison Park is always difficult for any side and Everton are desperately in need of a result.
