At the moment, the Arsenal squad are just short of becoming a title winning squad. They just fell short in the final lap last season after dominating for most of the season. Even this season it looks like they have just fell short.
The Gunners are expected to be very active in the upcoming summer transfer window, to take their team to the next level. They are likely to sign a new forward to bolster their attack. But before that, Arsenal may have to let a few of their own players go. Now Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on one of them.
Eddie Nketiah has certainly fallen down the pecking order
Eddie Nketiah has been at Arsenal since his early teens and in-and-around the senior squad since the age of 18.
Nketiah was always a prolific striker at youth level. Everyone expected him to make a good career for himself when he broke into the senior setup. However, at Arsenal, the 24-year-old is now behind Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and perhaps even Leandro Trossard in the pecking order.
That has increased the speculation about his future. Multiple clubs, including Crystal Palace, have been linked with a move to sign him this summer.
Nketiat could leave as Arsenal look to upgrade their squad
Romano shared the latest on Nketiah’s future. He wrote in his Daily Briefing: “Eddie Nketiah – I think there’s a concrete possibility that he could move on, and he’s always had plenty of interest from clubs in the Premier League and the Bundesliga.
“In the past, we’ve seen interest from West Ham, Crystal Palace and Borussia Monchengladbach. Now let’s see if any teams will make a proposal this summer. But for sure it’s a possibility for Nketiah to make way as Arsenal are looking for a potential new addition up front.”
Crystal Palace have certainly been admirers of the Englishman for a long time. There could be a possibility to offer Nketiah plus cash to Palace in exchange for Michael Olise, a player who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
