Some of the Arsenal players are headed to play for their countries while others are staying with the club. Gunners are looking sharp and are still undefeated in any competition. The recent news is about their key midfielder Jorginho who is said to leave Arsenal and join Saudi club on a free transfer next summer.
Jorginho transfer news: Fabrizio Romano shares key updates
Fabrizio Romano has shared a key update about Jorginho and his future at North London. Romano told CaughtOffside that Jorginho is only thinking about the current season at the moment. He added that this is an important season for Arsenal and these linking is not good for the club. Romano referred to linking of Saliba and Jorginho to other clubs.
“It is only the beginning of October, the season started just 50 days ago. Jorginho’s full focus is on present, on Arsenal, not on moving into coaching and not on making the move to Saudi” – Fabrizio Romano speaking about Jorginho.
It is also said that Jorginho could take up a coaching role at Arsenal next year. His current contract expires next summer and there are no signs of extension as of now. He may also join any of the Saudi side like most of the senior players.
Jorginho stills has a lot to offer for Arsenal
Jorginho joined Gunners in January 2023 for £12 million from Chelsea. Firstly, he was offered a one and half year contract with an option to extend another year. Gunners took that step this summer and secured the Italian for another year.
Jorginho was a regular starter for Chelsea back then but he has a very different role at North London. At that time, Jorginho used to be the main man in the middle of the park. He was often the man pulling the strings and controlling the tempo of the game.
Jorginho still does that but here, he is often used by Arteta as a backup and help the team with his experience. The Italian has also responded very nicely and has been able to provide Gunners with a strong depth.
Jorginho has already played 4 matches this season. He first played this season when Rice was out due to getting red card. Arteta trusted the 32 year old and handed him the captain armband. It looks like Jorginho has a lot to offer and guide Gunners to the Premier League title.
