FC Barcelona are eyeing a loan move for Arsenal’s Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang in January transfer window. The Catalonians under Xavi are trying to turn the club’s fortunes around by making some influential signings. Barcelona have a long list of names that they will go after during the transfer market of 2022. They have now set their sights on the Gabon international as a potential loan signing to improve their Squad.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have kept out their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from their matchday squad. The Gabon international is not eligible for selection in their Premier League matches over a ‘disciplinary’ issue. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed his unavailability in several press conferences. According to some sources, Aubameyang came back late after being granted a trip abroad for personal reasons.

Due to his leniency, he will no longer wear the Arsenal captain’s armband. In addition to that, the Gunners are hoping to find a solution for the forward, who could be shown the exit door as early as January 2022 when the winter transfer window opens. However, the Gabon international extended his contract with the Gunners for three more years in September 2020 which sees him earn £350,000-a-week. The uncertain future of Aubameyang has given a green light to FC Barcelona as they will try to lure the 32-year-old to Camp Nou.

Arsenal hoping to part ways with Aubameyang as FC Barcelona will bring reinforcements during the January transfer window

Things at FC Barcelona are not going well even after the arrival of Xavi as their new manager. The La Liga giants did not proceed to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. Following which the Catalans are all set to feature in the Europa League next year. On the other hand, their major summer signings like Memphis Depay and Luuk De Jong have miserably failed to capitalize on their opportunity at Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, Sergio Aguero has already retired from football due to an unfortunate cardiac issue. Barcelona will be active during the January transfer window in order to bring quality into the squad. However, their financial restrictions could block them from signing new players but a loan move for any player is more likely to happen.

The Daily Mail understands that FC Barcelona may contact the Premier League outfit for Aubameyang. They will hope to bring the 32-year-old to Camp Nou for the rest of the campaign. Reports have also suggested that Barcelona may struggle to meet his wages unless Arsenal are prepared to reach a compromise.
