About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

FC Barcelona Manager Xavi has identified two Defensive reinforcements to strengthen his Squad next year. The Catalonians are struggling this season to find their Form after an Unforgettable summer. Xavi is looking forward to bringing some Experienced young players to balance his side. Despite having the likes of Gerrard Pique and Jordi Alba in the defence, Barcelona is looking very shaky on the pitch this season.

Their struggles outside of the pitch were also pretty evident over the summer. Barca saw Lionel Messi join Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window after spending 16 years at Camp Nou. This took place due to the Financial restrictions set by La Liga and Joan Laporta had no other option but to let Messi join another club. However, Barcelona secured a move for Manchester City‘s Ferran Torres for €55 Million with €10 Million add-ons.

Torres’ move to Camp Nou goes on to show that Barcelona is slowly recovering from its Financial Woes. Meanwhile, they have now turned their attention towards signing new defenders in an attempt to concede less. Xavi is currently facing uncertainty surrounding a couple of his defensive names. Barca’s Right-back Sergino Dest is being strongly linked with an exit next year. They are mainly looking to bring one player for each of the Side back positions.

Xavi is now looking to sign Valencia’s Left-back and Ajax’s Right-back for FC Barcelona after completing a deal for Ferran Torres

According to the reports from Sport, the Catalan giants are keeping tabs on Ajax’s Right-back Noussair Mazraoui as a possible replacement for Sergino Dest. He failed to capitalize on his opportunities at the club and is now close to an exit. Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on him. They have already made contact with Mazraoui’s agent Mino Raiola about a possible move next summer.

On the other hand, Valencia’s Left-back Jose Gaya who is a renowned name in La Liga is also on Xavi’s plan. Reports have suggested that Jose Gaya is continuing to reject all proposals for a contract renewal by Valencia. He could depart the Mestalla during the summer transfer window of 2022.

Since joining the club, Gaya has been a pivotal figure for club and country while becoming the club captain at the onset of the 2020/21 season. Barcelona’s interest in Gaya is understandable, considering Jordi Alba’s age. The Spaniard is also approaching the final phase of his career. Xavi is now reportedly planning life without the experienced Spanish International.
