FC Barcelona target would be happy to play for the club

Neves

FC Barcelona is in the market looking for a replacement for Sergio Busquets. It is a well-known fact that life after Busquets would be a hard one for the club. For a club like Barcelona, the pivot position is the most essential, along with the sweeper keeper. Without a pivot in the line-up, the club can never honestly play the version of positional play that has been our history for decades and even under Xavi. Yet the board has never honestly tried its best to find a competent replacement for him.

De Jong was signed for that very reason. But the player has yet to live up to the expectations. With the Spaniard’s contract ending next summer, the club is already on the lookout for a like-to-like replacement. Martin Zubimendi was scouted, but he signed a new long-term contract with Real Sociedad.

FC Barcelona is interested in Ruben Neves

Ruben Neves is a long-standing interest of the club. The Wolverhampton Wanderers captain is an exceptional player, consistently putting up top-level numbers. On a sure note, he would fit into the FC Barcelona team after a few months of adaptation.

The player recently also opened up about the idea of a move to the Catalonia club. Ruben Neves has been linked to Barcelona several times but has refused to play down the rumors.

The Portugal international said in an interview with Canal 1;

“Who wouldn’t want to play for Barcelona? If you ask in general, all the players want to play for Barça, one of the best clubs in the world.”

 “It’s a privilege for me to be associated with this team.”

“I’m going to do my job. I’m going to focus as much as possible here because we have a lot of competition. I have to focus as much as possible on Wolves. Having a good season here, things will come very naturally.”

The Catalans may consider moving in January, especially with Neves expressing interest in playing for Barça. Although the midfielder would not rule out a lengthy stay at Wolves, he does not aim to do so.
