Ferran Torres wants to stay at Barcelona amidst the transfer rumors

According to Ferran Torres, he is looking forward to “many magical nights at Camp Nou” in 2023. Thereby ruling out a January move away from the club. There has been speculation about the 22-year-old’s future in recent weeks, with several clubs keeping tabs on his situation in Spain.

A recent report claimed Tottenham Hotspur was planning to make an offer to sign the Spain international. A new forward is on Arsenal’s wishlist for the January transfer window, as the Gunners attempt to bring in a replacement before then.

It is not clear whether Ferran Torres will leave Barcelona in the middle of the season. Torres while speaking to SPORT said:

“Here’s to a 2023 with many magical nights at Camp Nou with our fans.”

Will Ferran Torres stay at Barcelona?

During the 2022-23 campaign, Ferran Torres made 20 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting one. Although he has only scored two goals in 14 La Liga appearances this season, the forward has only made the starting XI six times. In his 43 appearances for Manchester City between 2020 and 2022, Torres scored 16 goals and registered four assists.

In addition to Tottenham and Arsenal, AC Milan also has an interest in the forward.

On Wednesday, Ferran Torres played 60 minutes of Barcelona’s 4-3 Copa del Rey win over Intercity, with the Catalans needing extra time to win.

After the match Barcelona boss Xavi said:

“I’m satisfied with the game, with our team. We know what the cup is like, the rivals are extra-motivated, everything costs, we have made the game difficult for ourselves.”

“We have been playing well but we are still lacking effectiveness. In general terms, I’m satisfied. I’m satisfied with the game, but we lacked effectiveness. We need to be more effective both in defense and in attack to decide the games.”

Ferran Torres may start against Atletico Madrid after Lewandowski’s suspension.
