Chelsea second choice keeper Filip Jorgensen is set to miss the crunch clash against following injury concerns.

Liverpool is set to host Chelsea on Sunday in one of the most anticipated match ups of the season. Both teams are looking to continue their impressive starts to the season. Liverpool who are top of the league has one of the best defenses in the league while Chelsea have strong squad and the second-best attack in the league. The Chelsea team have already scored 16 goals only behind Man City who have scored 18. Chelsea and Liverpool are the only teams on a perfect away record. However unfortunately Danish U21 keeper Filip Jorgensen in set to miss the fixture after suffering an injury during the international break.

CHELSEA TEAM NEWS

Chelsea’s defense has been stable under Enzo Maresca this season, but they’ll face a significant challenge in their upcoming game at Anfield, as both Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana are suspended. Both of them picked up their fifth bookings of the season during their previous match. Cucurella and Fofana have been key starters for Chelsea. They have started every Premier League game so far, so their absence will force Maresca to make changes in his backline.

Tosin Adarabioyo is expected to step in for Fofana alongside Levi Colwill. Which will offer experience and stability. Adarabioyo has the ability to slot in and should provide some reassurance in central defense. But in the left back position it will be a different question. Renato Veiga, who has made an impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge can make a huge contention for that spot. On the other hand Enzo Maresca also has the experienced option of Ben Chilwell at his disposal. Veiga already started in that position during their UEFA Conference League match against Gent. He also scored his first goal for the club in that match. While Ben Chilwell will offer a more stable and experienced option. This will be the most important question for Maresca to answer.

Meanwhile Reece James is continuing his recovery. He already started training with the first team and will be included in the team for Sunday. It is to be seen if Maresca will rush him into match action that too against such difficult opposition. Chelsea’s solid defense will be the most important factor that is going to help on Sunday. As Liverpool have struggled against teams who have a strict and disciplined defense. Their loss against Nottingham Forest is an example.

FILIP JORGENSEN INJURY

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is doubtful for the upcoming game against Liverpool after a strange injury while on International duty. The 22 year old young Danish goalkeeper joined Chelsea from Villarreal this summer. The fee was rumored to be around 20 million pounds. He played in goal for Denmark U21 team in their recent victory against Iceland. Jorgensen then had to leave during half time after suffering injury. The Danish man collided with his teammate Oliver Provstgaard during an in-match incident. The impact left him with an issue that affected his eye sight particularly in the right eye.

Reports from the Danish media claimed that Jorgen had some issues to his head after the collision. We know that goalkeepers have to put their heads into places where others swing their feet. The Danish U21 manager played down the issue by saying, “It’s crazy how unlucky he is. Now that [concussion] quota must be used up. It [the substitution] wasn’t planned.” Quote taken from football.london.

Jorgensen is yet to make his Premier League debut for Chelsea as Robert Sanchez remains the first choice. However, in the light of recent criticism faced by the Spaniard on his recent outings with Chelsea. Jorgensen has a good chance to impress his manager and get a break to the starting eleven. He kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 UEFA Conference League win against Servette and another in the 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Barrow.
