Wesley Fofana has been dropeed out of the French squad for the upcoming International squad after latest injury blow for Chelsea.
Chelsea have not made a strongest of starts under the new manager Enzo Maresca after picking up only 4 points from their oprning three encounters. They sit 11th on the Premier League table with a win, a lose and a draw and stubbling past Swiss league side Servette in the UECL play offs. But If we are talking on the aspects of injuries it’s not that worrisome compared to last season. The Blues had lost the likes of Wesley Fofana and Christopher Nkunku at the begining of the previous season with injuries.
CHELSEA PERFORMANCE
As said earlier Enzo Maresca’s side has not had the strongest of the starts. A huge win against struggling Wolves the only highlight of the opening five matches of the season. The season opener against Man City didn’t go to plan as they went down 0-2 at Stamford Bridge. Despite having a strong attacking line it was a worrisome sight as they failed to convers some of chances upfront. On the other hand Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill has formed a strong partnership at the heart of the defense.
The new signings Pedro Neto and Joao Felix has shown some glipses of their talent after excelent display against Wolves on matchday two. The Blues crushed a Wolves 2-6 on their home turf hugely influenced by the second half hat-trick of Noni Madueke. Cole Palmer has been the only player who has shown consistent performance from the start of the season. According to GOAL.com, Cole Palmer has earned a rating of 6 or above in his first three Premier League matches. We can see that defensively they have only let in fewer shots on target but their opponents have been more clinical sighting Chelsea’s inconsitency in the final third. Even if the likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto make chances they are struggling to finish of them off.
It is clear the Enzo Maresca is still finding his perfect lineup which shows the different attacking lineups he has used throughout the first few matches. Jackson has started in attack most of the times but his partners in crime has been switched back and forth to find that perfect set up. Chelsea management and fans should provide him some much needed time before judging him.
