Four options available to Juventus if they decide to sack Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri

Juventus have been struggling this season despite investing well in this summer transfer window. Massimiliano Allegri returned to the club last season after Andrea Pirlo was let go and led the club to a top 4 finish. However, many believed the second season will bring Juventus back to the summit of Italian football. But the club is still languishing in the 8th spot and looks out of sorts.

Any other club in the world would have already sacked their manager but Juventus have a bond with Allegri. The club hierarchy believes the Manager can turn things around and have faith in him. However, the players are reportedly frustrated with the Italian’s tactics as he refuses to adapt.

Another reason for not sacking Allegri is the huge compensation that the club will have to pay him. Financially, the Bianconeri are not doing well either and compensation for the manager can be difficult to swallow for the hierarchy. However, if the results keep deteriorating then the club will have to take some action.

Juventus has identified four possible replacements

Zinedine Zidane is at the top of the shortlist for the club hierarchy. They believe the former Juventus legend and Real Madrid manager is the right choice for the job. However, the French manager seems to be interested in the France National Team more than a club at the moment. He has refused offers from multiple top clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

The preferred alternative to the French Manager is Antonio Conte. However, the Italian is currently contracted to Tottenham Hotspur and also has a bitter history with the club. Even though the manager enjoyed a successful spell with Juventus before establishing himself abroad, the Italian left on a bittersweet note from Turin. It is unlikely he will want to return to Turin from London where he feels at home currently.

The best available options for the club are Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel. The former has been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer and replaced by Christophe Galtier. Meanwhile, the German tactician was sacked by Chelsea recently owing to differences with the ownership.

Out of the two realistic options, Thomas Tuchel is the more suitable candidate as he is experienced in terms of dealing with big egos. Mauricio Pochettino struggled to deal with the characters at Paris Saint-Germain and could not produce the kind of results the French club hoped. However, Thomas Tuchel is a proven winner and can turn things around for Juventus even in playing style wise as he is very impressionable on his squad. Let’s hope Juventus is able to make a choice soon and turn things around this season before it’s too late!!
