Franck Kessie has not found it easy to settle in at Barcelona

Franck Kessie

Franck Kessie was signed by Barcelona early on in the transfer window on a free transfer from AC Milan. The Ivorian left the Rossoneri after his contract expired with the club after the Scudetto triumph. Many experts believed that the Ivorian chose the wrong club as he does not fit the style of play at Barcelona.

However, the midfielder believes that he can adapt and the club also wanted to sign him desperately. Xavi Hernandez has not used the player extensively and relegated him to appearances mostly from the bench. The Spanish manager considers him as a robust alternative to the agile and creative Pedri and Gavi.

Franck Kessie is also capable of playing the role of a pivot, however, Barcelona already has two players in that role. Sergio Busquets and Frenkie De Jong have the trust of the manager and continue to play as the pivot. However, not all is lost for the Ivorian midfielder as he can also play as a box-to-box midfielder.

Franck Kessie is content with his role and wants to fight for his place

The Ivorian is not disappointed at the game time as he realizes the need of the squad. He is looking to stay at the club and fight for his place in the team. Franck Kessie is not technically bad but lacks the experience to play in a more possession-oriented team.

However, the player is training hard to adapt and hopes to impress his manager gradually with his abilities. Pedri and Gavi have played in Spain since their academy days and are well equipped to play possession-based football. Thus, the Ivorian has found it difficult to make a place for himself.

However, the manager believes Franck Kessie will play an important role in the squad as the games will come thick and fast for the club. Let’s just hope that the midfielder is able to take the opportunity as and when they arrive. It will be important for him to impress Xavi with the limited opportunities that he is afforded!!
