Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has asked for more ‘end product’ from Callum Hudson-Odoi which will catapult him into the category of a top Premier League winger.
Chelsea’s young 20-years-old England International Callum Hudson-Odoi started his Chelsea career very promisingly but his injury issues preventing him from reaching his full potential.
Hudson-Odoi started the last game at home against Aston Villa and showed his great range and high quality of passes.
He immediately changed the looking of Chelsea in the second half against Arsenal in the derby after he came on and they looked really good and eventually got the assist for the goal. Odoi played well against Aston Villa as well in the first half but lost a bit in the second half.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is backed by the Blues manager Lampard for his rich potential who could become one of the best wingers, but the 20-year-old continues to fight for regular football.
Frank Lampard is still convinced that Hudson-Odoi will overcome all the challenges ahead of him, and now he is wanting the young talent to boost his goal return.
Lampard said about Hudson-Odoi:
“I liked Callum’s performance against Villa and I liked the range of his passing, which was very evident in the first half,”
“There were a couple of great crossfield balls, and some of his footwork, touches and movement were great.”
“The obvious next part is end product.”
“We we want to see Callum, as I think he did against Arsenal, to go one-versus-one, to be confident to go one-versus-one, because he has the ability to do it.”
“And to get crosses in like he did for Tammy (Abraham) at Arsenal, and to get goals, to arrive in the box.”
“Because that’s the level of top wingers in the Premier League when you look around at the numbers that the top wingers produce in the Premier League in recent years.”
“Callum definitely has the capabilities and that will be the next stage for him.”– Frank Lampard on Hudson-Odoi
Hudson-Odoi’ performance for Chelsea and Lampard:
Callum Hudson-Odoi has made 67 appearances for Chelsea after making his debut in the 17/18 season, he scored 9 goals and made 10 assists for his teammates.
In the absence of Hakim Ziyech, he should solidify the right-wing spot as he is the best option they have in that position after Ziyech. He should show more hunger with the talent he has.
Hudson-Odoi was previously heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, they rate him very high. But he signed a new long term contract since then.
It will be interesting to see what will be the future of him if he can reach his full potential or not. And also if he will remain at Chelsea or Bayern Munich reignite their interest for Callum Hudson-Odoi.
