French talent, Youssouf Fofana, has been linked to many big clubs in recent weeks. Many reports suggest that the young French midfielder is sought after by many Premier League clubs. Youssouf Fofana is being regarded as the next big talent coming up through the French pedigree of midfield genius and strength. Over the years, the French talents have included names like Aurelian Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Warren-Zaire Emery, and Wesley Fofana. Youssouf is the next name on this list, by the looks of things. All of these players emerge as talents in Ligue 1 and go for big money, as we have seen as a recent trend.
Cesc Fabregas is one of the best Spanish midfielders of the last generation and manager of recently promoted side Como. Fabregas has tipped Youssouf Fofana to join Bayern or Liverpool. Although Fofana is enjoying his time at AS Monaco, Fabregas feels that the young French talent is ready to face bigger challenges under bigger pressures. Fabregas said in a 2022 interview with RMC Sport,
“When I came [to Monaco as a player], Thierry (Henry) and Vadim (Vasilyev) also asked me to help grow the young people. It was an important point.“
“Today, I feel like I have won the respect and sympathy of this younger generation. I hope I have helped. We like each other. I will continue to follow them and exchange with them. I would like to see Fofana, (Sofiane) Diop, or (Aurelien) Tchouameni at Bayern or Liverpool.”
Cesc Fabregas is a Spain and Arsenal legend; his belief in Youssouf will give him a world of confidence. However, we are yet to see which of the big clubs will capitalize on securing the young man’s signature. A lot of clubs have shown an interest in him.
The French Player’s future and present
Youssouf Fofana is currently playing in the top tier of the French league, Ligue 1. He is playing as a key player and an integral part of the midfield at AS Monaco. However, the 25-year-old has already rejected a move to the Red Devils, i.e., Manchester United. Although he has seen interest in him, he has rejected an offer that not a lot of players would refuse. Additionally, he is set to feature for France in the upcoming Euros in Germany this month. Certainly, he will get game time for Les Blues.
Earlier, Manchester United failed to land him but there is continued interest from them. However, according to reports, Arsenal seems to be leading the race to secure the French midfielder’s signature. Over the season, Arsenal have proved themselves to be contenders for the English title. It makes sense to join them while they are ahead. However, Liverpool are also showing continued ineterest in Youssouf Fofana.
After United had failed to land Fofana, Monaco’s sporting director, Thiago Scruro, told the media,
“He deserves most of the credit.“
“(Fofana) believes in our project and made the decision to stay longer at Monaco to continue his development. He has big ambitions with the French team and AS Monaco.”
This implies that it was Fofana who rejected the approach of Manchester United.
What Fofana said about his future
During a recent media appearance, Fofana said,
“I have spoken about it with the hierarchy; it isn’t a secret. We had exchanges, and they agreed to accompany me on this new stage.
“If [a move] doesn’t happen, I still have a year left, and I will be happy to stay. We were in agreement that we would accompany each other in this process in which everyone should be a winner, be it me or the club.”
