Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes had one of the best performance of the season against title rival Man City on Sunday.
Gabriel Magalhaes along with William Saliba has made a brilliant partnership at the heart of the Arsenal defence. Arsenal boasts the second best defence in the Premier League with only three goals conceded in the first five matches. Against Man City, Gabriel not only scored the goal that put the Gunners in front he also helped the defence to stay tight. City had to wait till the final minute to score the equaliser. He was praised by some of national and club teammates for his defensive master class against City.
GABRIEL MAGALHAES PERFORMANCE AGAINST MAN CITY
Man City came into the titanic clash with a perfect record in the Premier League. They had also scored the most goals in the league. Erling Haaland was in sparkling form scroing a total of 9 goals in the first four matches. Which also includes a couple of hat-tricks. So last sunday at the Etihad Stadium the best attack faced the best defence. It was not a surprise when Erling Haaland handed the home side the lead at nine minutes mark. Both teams kept the pressure on until Riccardo Calafiori on his first start for his new club scored a wonderful goal to equalise. This was before Gabriel Magalhaes scored a trademark header to put Arsenal in front. Everything was going well for the visitors until Leandro Trossard was sent off after receiving a second yellow for time wasting. Which landed in some controversy once again.
The second half began with Arsenal reduced to 10 men and witha whole half plus additional time to play. Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba along with the other nine outfield players bravely defended until Jhon Stones equalised in the 98th minute to make the score 2-2.
Aside from the goal the 26 year old Brazillian defender won four ground and aerial duels with five clearances and three blocks. He also won 100% of his tackles and committed just one foul throughout the 90 minutes. Megalhaes has had a fantastic start to the season so far and will be hoping continue this form.

WHAT NEXT FOR GABRIEL AND ARSENAL?
Arsenal won their Carabao Cup match against Bolton Wanderers 5-1 at the Emirates to progress into the next round. But most of the senior players were rested for that match. 16 year old goalkeeper Jack Porter started the match as the youngest starter for Arsenal. Youngster Ethan Nwaneri scored twice in that match along with a first goal for Raheem Sterling.
Next up it is against promoted Leicester City who are winless in the first five matches with three draws and two losses. They sit 15th on the table while Arsenal are up in the top 4 and unbeaten. The match is scheduled on saturday at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are still without their captain Martin Odegaard and hoping to get maximum points this weekend.
