Gabriel fires a warning towards title rivals Man City and their star striker Erling Haaland after their 2-2 draw at the Etihad last week.
Gabriel Megalhaes has been one of the best players for Arteta this season. Arsenal posses one of the best defence in the league right now having conceded only three goals in the first five matches. Not only scoring in the 2-2 draw he performed well to keep the free flowing City attack at bay un-till the final minutes. Only to see Jhon Stones equalise with the last kick of the ball. Anyway post match Gabriel was seen warning Erling Haaland and Man City like a gladiator hungry to avenge for his clan’s loses.
AS THE MATCH HAPPENED
Manchester City and Arsenal locked horns for one of the most intriguing matches of the season. A match which will have huge importance in the title challenge. It was a Premier League classic as the match was unpredictable in nature. The match changed in minutes. Man City were in ascendency at the begining scoring the first goal in the ninth minute through Erling Haaland. Which kick starts the duel between Gabriel and Haaland. The Norwegian and his team lead the game until Riccardo Calafiori scored a stunner to equalise. The game was turned upside down in minutes as Gabriel scored from a Bukayo Saka corner to put Arsenal ahead.
All things were looking good for the Gunners until Leandro Trossard was sent off for time wasting just before half time. The moment was shifted back to Manchester City. The majority of the second half was dominated by the Cityzens and Arsenal were only planning to hold their slender lead. This sparked so many controversies actually with Arsenal allegedly faking injury to waste time. As Arteta said after the Tottenham match that he loved his team playing ‘the ugly game’. Anyway the ugly game didn’t help them and John Stones equalised at the end after a short corner tactics from City.
We can just assume that with all that defending involved, Gabriel and Haaland must have exchanged some talks throughout the game. Haaland was also seen throwing the ball to the back of Arsenal defender’s head during the celebrations of the late equaliser. Gabriel then played it down during the interview before firing a warning at their title challengers.
GABRIEL’S WORDS OF REVENGE
After a close encounter Erling Haaland was seen throwing a ball to Gabriel’s back of the head. The incident might have landed the Norwegian in deep trouble from the FA which he luckily avoided. Anyway after all those post match shenanigans, Gabriel was asked about the incident which the defender played it down. The Brazillian said
“No, I don’t remember it. I don’t remember it. It’s normal. But anyway, congratulations to the team for the draw.”
He nromalised the issue by saying that the battle, war and provocation are part of the game. And talked like it was over. However at the end he warned Man City by saying: “We are waiting for them at our ground.” As per the Express
Arsenal legend Ian write also called the star Man City striker a ‘coward’ for his post match acts.
THE RETURN LEG
We can assume that the title battle will enter into a crucial stage by the time of return leg at the Emirates Stadium. Manchester City will be the team to beat according to start they have made to this season and considering the fact that Liverpool have just begun the Arne Slot era. It is more likely that Arsenal are the major title challengers at the top. As per the schedule the match at Arsenal’s home will take place on 1st of February 2025. All the PL will be intriguingly waiting for that match as well as Gabriel and Erling Haaland.
