England starts their EURO 2024 campaign with a narrow win over Serbia in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on June 17. The Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham scored the decisive goal in the 13th minute of the game. In the rest of the game, England was able to create chances but failed to score in the match. The Three Lions came close to scoring the second goal in the 77th minute when Harry Kane’s header hit the post.

In their new YouTube video on the “Rest In Football” YouTube channel, former England international Michael Richards and Gary Linekar discussed the game. They both delivered their thoughts on different players. Linekar particularly praised Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice for his outstanding performance in the match.
In the video Richards said,
“We didn’t touch on him on the BBC but I thought Declan Rice played really well. Not outstanding like Bellingham did but he was very measured in the way he performed.”
And Linekar replied,
“He was more disciplined because the last few weeks of the season he was playing as an eight for Arsenal and he does it well, he protects that back four really well.”
Linekar also talked about how Rice operated as more of a holding midfielder, giving him a different responsibility to his at Arsenal.
Rice had a passing accuracy of 96% in yesterday’s game, creating one big chance for the Three Lions. The Arsenal midfielder produced double digits in ball recovery.

Declan Rice played as a defensive midfielder in Arsenal last season. Despite playing as a defensive midfielder the 25-year-old often comes forward and produces some goals and assists for the Gunners. Rice’s brilliant performance for the Gunners kept him in England’s squad for the Euro 2024.
