Gerard Pique: Barcelona owes €50 million to the Spanish star

Against Almeria

Barcelona are reportedly yet to pay around €50 million in salary to their star defender Gerard Pique as per the report from Spanish journalist Gerard Romero(via Barca Universal).

The Blaugrana are currently in financial difficulties. After being run badly by the previous board members. They owe millions to banks for unpaid debt. And they are currently unable to make any purchases in the transfer market due to the FFP rules of the La Liga

Meanwhile, Gerard Romero is claiming that Barcelona are yet to pay around €50 million in salary to Gerard Pique. However, the loyal defender hasn’t made any fuss about it. But, this shows the current situation of the club.

The Camp Nou faithful are optimistic that the situation will reverse under the new president Joan Laporta. He already has taken a few strong decisions. And letting Lionel Messi go has one of them.

However, Barcelona did business in January. But, things are looking bad once again at the moment. So, they need to find a way to overcome this situation.

Will Gerard Pique get his money back?

Gerard Pique is one of the highest-paid players in Barcelona. And he had reportedly taken a pay-cut in the last summer which helped the Blaugrana in registering a few new players.

Meanwhile, the Catalan giants had the opportunity to overcome their financial issues by accepting the CVC Capital and the sale of Barça Studio. However, they have reportedly decided to go against that.

So, player sales are the only way out for Barcelona to overcome the current situation. Eight players are already on the transfer list this summer. While Frenkie De Jong is the player who will be allowed to leave if the club receives a significant offer.

Manchester United are reportedly pushing for the Dutchman this summer. And they are reportedly ready to match Blaugrana’s price tag. However, the 25-year-old has expressed his desire to remain in Barcelona.
