Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are showing interest in signing Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott during this summer window.
Leipzig Look to Reunite Elliott with Klopp
RB Leipzig is said to want to sign young attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott from Liverpool this transfer window.
The Englishman was signed for just £4.3m by Jurgen Klopp from Fulham. He is now set to team up again with the German who works within Red Bull’s global football program. Klopp gave Harvey his Reds debut in 2019. That made him the second youngest player’s ever to play for the club.
Last season, the midfielder made the most appearances of his Liverpool career. He played 53 games across all competitions with four goals and 14 assists. However, most of those appearances came from the bench, a decision Klopp later admitted he regretted.
He had a promising pre-season under new boss Arne Slot. But, another injury during the international break kept him out until December. By the time he recovered, Slot had already settled on his preferred starting XI, leaving Elliott with limited game time. He started only twice in the Premier League. Those starts came after the club had already wrapped up the title.
Elliott’s Future in Doubt Amid Transfer Interest
Harvey Elliott’s situation has got interest from a number of clubs, both in England and abroad. In addition Wolves is also said to be watching the midfielder closely. Slot’s side are believed to value him at more than £40m. That price could rise following his great form for England at the Under-21 Euros.
Elliott has scored four goals in five appearances at the tournament. That includes a stunning brace against the Netherlands to help the Young Lions reach the final. Despite having two years left on his contract, the player’s chances at Liverpool seem low. That is especially after the arrival of star signing Florian Wirtz.
With interest heating up, this summer could see the youngster seek regular minutes elsewhere.
