Liverpool’s ace Georginio Wijnaldum is about to bid Anfield goodbye, as he is rumored to join the Spanish giants, FC Barcelona this summer. For having slowly escalating into the final months of his contract, the 30-year-old has settled on a possible Camp Nou switch.

Certain reports, like that of Mundo Deportivo, also claim that the Reds midfielder has agreed a pre-contract deal with the club. Ahead of the second cast of Joan Laporta‘s presidency, it is likely that Gini Wijnaldum is set to become the first signing.

Moreover, the Blaugrana boss, Ronald Koeman was also keen about his Dutch compatriot along with Memphis Depay. But the financial shape of Barça scraped the idea of potential signings.

Amid his transfer saga, manager Jurgen Klopp has responded to the Holland international’s unsure future,

“I would be happy if he would stay here, as long as nothing is decided I am positive. Gini is one of the best people I have ever met, and he is one of the best players I’ve ever trained.”Jurgen Klopp on Wijnaldum’s future at Liverpool

The Dutchman arrived from Newcastle United in 2016, and since then he has scored 27 goals, provided 16 assist in a total of 208 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The latter has also racked up major titles, like the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

However, during the pre-match conference of the UEFA round of 16 tie he spoke in a low-hearted manner about his recent club,

“Really difficult, because if that happens you will leave a team that you really love. A team you shared a lot of years together, where you feel very comfortable. It all depends on the situation I think.” Gini Wijnaldum speaking about his doubtful future at Liverpool

Nevertheless given the speculations over his future, Liverpool will now need to bug their head out of unconcerned thoughts and solely focus on the upcoming fixtures.
