Gyokeres moving to Arsenal doesn’t seem likely but there is more

Arsenal are still trying to get their ship sailing in the transfer market with forwards in search by the Gunners.

For four weeks the transfer market has been open, and it seems Arsenal needs to make some move. Other than the addition of 18-year-old Lucas Nygaard and the permanent signing of David Raya, Arsenal has yet to make a significant impression on the market.

Regardless, the Gunners are ever closer to signing Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian defender is on top of the transfer news for Arsenal but is yet to officially sign a deal to arrive at the Emirates. Other than him, various attackers like Pedro Neto, Eberechi Eze, and Viktor Gyokeres are also on the list to join Arsenal this summer.

Gyokeres particularly was in the news for a probable move to Arsenal. However, now it seems that the deal has fallen off and not particularly happening. The updates are particularly silent for the latter’s move for the last couple of weeks.

However, fans need not be disappointed because we have something else on the table now. The latest striker attracting attention is a much better deal for the Gunners and will form a brilliant partnership with Bukayo Saka.

Striker search of Arsenal

As per reports from CaughtOffside, Arsenal is still on the lookout for a striker. Their main priority right now is getting Riccardo Calafiori’s deal over the line however, once it is done Emirates will be on the search for the perfect striker. One of the names in the mix is Santiago Gimenez.

The reports claim that the Feyenoord star is also being pursued by Italian powerhouse Napoli. Moreover, Gunners North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also in the hunt.

Although the price is not mentioned a report in May claims a price of €50m. This will convert to £42m for the Mexican.

Regardless, the transfer is not going to be an easy one. However, if the deal does get over the line, it could be worth it given his form and the possibility of an incredible partnership with Saka. The fee in this scenario will also look reasonable.

Why sign Gimenez?

Talking about Gimenez is important. Arsenal needs an appreciable player considering the fees. So why sign Gimenez and why he could be amazing with Saka? Well, a simple answer to that is his consistency and output.

The Mexican “Goal” machine, as tagged by talent scout Jacek Kulig managed to score 26 while providing 8 assists last season in his campaign with Feyenoord. This is an incredible stat given it was his just second season with the side coming out of Mexico. He had a goal involvement every 1.20 games.

Indeed, the Eredivisie can be considered an easier league as compared to the Premier League of course. However, if the Mexican forward was to provide even a percentage of his play here in England, Arsenal could achieve some incredible results in their goalscoring department.

Furthermore, there is no reason to believe that the “unstoppable” marksman, as Kulig dubbed him, wouldn’t be able to produce anything close to the same level of performance as the Gunners’ Saka who amassed an incredible total of his own last season—20 goals and 14 assists in 47 games. Both together can be really dangerous for the opposition.

Also, another profit of signing Gimenez will be his price tag. Coming at £42m this signing will leave a lot of money for the side to invest in other departments. With the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz still present in the squad, boss Arteta will have quite a few options to choose from.

In the end, it’s Edu and co.’s call to choose, and selecting either striker would benefit the Gunners. However, Gimenez’s current form and price tag make him more favorable for Arsenal this summer. Further, him with Saka could take the Gunners’ attack to another level this season.
