Joe Rodon is unsure as to whether Rennes would exercise their option to buy the Welsh international for £20 million, and has all but confessed that Spurs manager Antonio Conte has not talked to him about his future. Rodon performed admirably for Wales during their unsuccessful World Cup campaign and has received high praise from a variety of sources as a result. However, it continues to appear that Conte is not a fan of the defenders as Rodon is currently frozen out in North London more than two years after moving from SA1.
The defender acknowledges that he is unsure of what will happen after the World Cup as he heads back to France before league play picks back up. “I have no idea,” he told The Sun. “It is up to Rennes. All I can do is perform, give my best and we will see.”
How did Rondon responded?
“He’s a very busy man,” when asked if he had spoken to Conte. They play nonstop and are in the Champions League. In the club, I interact with certain folks. I was overjoyed to get his good wishes that he conveyed.”
Another Swans academy graduate seems to be enjoying life in France, and he added
“The French league is very technical with technical layers. The physicality of the Premier League is very big and maybe there is a difference but the French league is also very competitive.”
He also added
“We are doing really well – the club is in Europe as well and we play against different teams in different countries and it’s only going to make me a better player and give me extra experience of playing in different locations. Hopefully that continues when we return from the World Cup and it is going to be a successful season.”
Should Rennes decide not to make the move permanent, Rodon has been linked with transfers to other Premier League teams.
