Hero IWL groups have been revealed

The groups for the forthcoming Hero Indian Women’s League were revealed. On Thursday, March 30, 2023, following the draw at New Delhi’s Football House it was revealed.

Dr Shaji Prabhakaran, Secretary General of the All India Football Federation, was among those present for the draw.  “This season of the Hero IWL is like a qualification competition of a more competitive league that will come into effect in the next campaign.

“My best wishes to all the 16 teams, who will be part of the Hero IWL. We had a meeting with several clubs. And all efforts have been made to create a holistic situation for the development. Moreover rapid growth of Indian women’s football,” he said.

On April 25, 2023, the Hero IWL will begin. Moreover , the premier women’s meet will have 16 teams divided into two groups in the 2022-23 season. However, the top four teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage. This will include quarterfinals, semi-finals, and the final. The top eight clubs will also receive automatic entry into the Hero IWL next season. Moreover , this will be played on a home-and-away basis.

Hero IWL Groupings:

Gokulam Kerala FC, Mata Rukmani FC, HOPS FC, Misaka United FC, Kahaani FC, East Bengal FC, Sports Odisha, and Mumbai Knights FC are the teams in Group A.

Sethu FC, Kickstart FC, Celtic Queens FC, Eastern Sporting Union, CRPF FC, Churchill Brothers FCG, Lords FA Kochi, and Odisha FC are the teams in Group B.
