How will Chelsea and Barrow lineup in the EFL cup?

Chelsea will begin their EFL cup campaign against Barrow in the third round of the competition. The teams will face each other at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have had a good start to their season in their 2024-2025 campaign. They have only been beaten once by their Premier League rivals Manchester City. After losing their opening game this season Chelsea remains unbeaten. They have either won their matches or ended in a draw.

Enzo Maresca’s side has recently come from a dominating win over West Ham. They registered a 3-0 victory over the Hammers. There were doubts if Chelsea would come out on top against West Ham. Enzo Maresca’s tactics and the player’s brilliance led them to victory.

The 3-0 score was thanks to star players of the team like Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer. Jackosn scored the opener assisted by Sancho, the second goal was Nicolas’s brace. Palmer scored a screamer to finish the game 3-0.

English Club Barrow has also started their season on a good note. Barrow has also come straight from a victory against Newport Country. Stephen Clemence’s side won the match by a scoreline of 2-0.

Barrow was almost on top of Newport as the latter’s defence was very loose. The two goal scorers from Barrow were Elliot Newsby in the 27th minute and Theo Vassell in the 82nd minute. Enzo Maresca; ‘s men will face Stephen Clemence’s squad in the EFL Cup.

How will Chelsea finalize their playing lineup?

The English clubs will face each other on 24th September at Stamford Bridge. Both the clubs have started their seasons strong. They look to win the game and start their Carabao Cup campaign on a high.

Chelsea would look to start their campaign strong and look to win the silverware this season. They have their eyes set on the cup as its ownership shifted from the club in 2022.

The Blues had reached the final of the competition last year. Chelsea however suffered a heartbreak during extra time as Liverpool beat them in the final 1-0. A header directed in goal by Van Dijk helped Liverpool win the cup.

Ahead of the Carabao clash Chelsea will make major changes. Ben Chilwell is included in the squad from the bench against Barrow. Chillwell was initially in the plans to play a part in the opening games for the Blues.

Ben got trimmed from the squad Maresca had a difficult time selecting the final lineup in a bloated Chelsea squad. Many of the players from the overloaded squad were either sold or loaned out but they were unable to find a buyer for the Englishman.

Maresca said that the youngsters will get their time to shine for the club. The manager said that Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong will be additions to the squad. He said Ben Chillwell and Carney Chukwuemeke will see play time. Enzo added that Malo Gusto is also fit and will play against Barrow. Romeo Lavio however is still on the sidelines and is expected to play against Brighton.

Barrow’s lineup against the Blues

The start of the League 2 team has been pretty good for this season. The English club have recently come from a victory of 2-0 against Newport country.

Stephen Clemence was very happy with his team’s recent performance according to reports of BBC. The manager is also confident that his team will put out a positive outcome against the Blues.

Barrow was able to take advantage of Newport Country’s defense but it will not be the case against Chelsea. The defence seems to be the strong suit of Maresca’s side. Clemence’s team currently stands in the first position of their League 2 table. They have played 7 games with 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.

It looks like the changes will not be very different for Barrow. The squad looks very similar form their previous game. They will set their attack with Emile Acquah and Gerrard Garner as their forwards. The defenders will be Sam Foley, Dean Campbell and Kian Spence.

The defence will be handled by Elliot Newby, Ben Jackson, Theo Vassell, Rory Feely and Chris Stokes. The Goalkeeper remains to be Paul Farma for Barrow.
