How will Chelsea setup their crowded attacking lineup? Sancho adds to Maresca’s headache.

A big question for Chelsea is how will they set up their attacking front going ahead. Moreover, the addition of Jadon Sancho had added more crowd to the squad.

The Blues have been the most active clubs in the recent summer transfer window as there were a total of 12 new signings for the team.

Many eyebrows were raised when the total number of players in the Chelsea camp reached 40. Half of the players were playing away from Maresca’s main squad. The squad was however trimmed.

Chelsea has spent big money on these many players to add more depth to their team. Many new players made their way to Stamford Bridge. Some new faces for the Blues are Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho, Mike Penders Marc Guiu and others.

Many known faces have parted ways with Stamford Bridge. Some outings include Thiago Silva to Fluminense, Connor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid and Romelu Lukaku to Napoli. Players like Raheem Sterling, Kepa Arizzabalaga and Trevor Chalobah left the Blues on loan.

Enzo Maresca is happy with Sancho’s progress

One of the most interesting Acquirements for Chelsea was Jadon Sancho. The winger was a last day signing for the club in the summer transfer window.

The Englishman arrived at Stamford Bridge from Manchester United. Sancho arrived on loan from Old Trafford at the price of 30 million euros with an obligation to buy and it is expected that Jadon will sign an extended contract with the Blues as his time with the Red Devils was not good.

The winger was with Borussia Dortmund on loan last year. He had an important contribution in helping Dortmund reach the Champions League finals. Ever since his return back to Erik Ten Hag’s squad, Sancho has not had the time to shine in the second half of the season.

Fans were doubtful of the English winger, but Jadon has stepped up to prove his potential. It has not taken very long to bear fruit for the Blues. The 24-year-old came from the bench and displayed an exceptional performance. His contribution helped the Blues win over Bournemouth last weekend. The winger was substituted in place of Pedro Neto.

He came on the field after the first half and in the 45-minute time period, Jadon played 17 passes opening up playing chances for the team and maintained 92 per cent pass accuracy. This contribution helped Jadon win the man of the match against Bournemouth.

Chelsea has shown confidence in the winger as he has already been through a hard time during his time with Manchester United. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been vocal about the Englishman’s part in important matches.

Maresca recently asked about Sancho’s discipline, but the manager had nothing but praise for the winger. Adding more about the winger he said that his role in the Bournemouth game was only ‘what was expected from him’.

What is Chelsea’s plan of attack?

One of the major problems for Chelsea is their already stacked-up attacking lineup. The Blues already have many players who are quite exceptional as attackers.

The main players who handle the Chelsea attack are Cole Palmer, Christian Nkuku, Pedro Neto and Nichola Jackson. The Blues also have new players like Marc Guiu and Jadon Sancho.

With this stacked lineup many fans have had concerns about how the final eleven will look like in league matches. Live on talkSPORT, the manager Enzo Maresca addressed this problem in the press conference, he said-

“We have Jadon Sancho and Misha (Mykhailo Mudryk) on the left wing. As right-wingers, we have Noni (Madueke) and Pedro (Neto). For midfield we have attacking fielders like Joao Felix and Cole Palmer”.

It will be interesting to see how Maresca will line up his final squad to face West Ham next. Nicholas Jackson has led the games so far the club starting in all four games. He scored two goals and assisted once for the team and is to start again versus the Hammers.

Chelsea will face West Ham at The London Stadium on 21st September.
