Manish Sisodia was excited about the Sudeva Delhi FC team playing in a National level Football league after some time.
“As a person from Delhi, it fills me with pride to see that a team from our city will be participating in the Hero I-League in Kolkata from January 9,”.
Further The Deputy CM praised the hard work and dedication of the club’s staff and owners to bring this milestone to the capital.
“It gives us, the Delhi people, a sense of belonging when we see the fixtures that our very own team will also be playing out there. I commend the dedication with which everyone at the club has worked to make this a reality,”
In turn, the club president Mr. Anuj Gupta thanked Delhi Government for showing support towards the growing Football Cult in the capital.
” I am extremely happy and honoured that the Delhi Government has shown its support and trust in Sudeva Delhi FC as we aim to nurture the talented youth in the capital,”
As for how Sudeva FC will perform well in this year’s edition,as there are a lot of strong teams there in the I-League. Punjab FC who are now took over by Roundglass from Ranjit Bajaj.
Real Kashmir are a fine proposition under David Robertson, Mohammedan have a much stronger squad, Chennai City and Gokulam Kerala are weakened by Raids of ISL teams and Mohammedan SC. Chennai City FC can be a perfect role model for them to be a feeder club.
Kean Lewis is a good addition in terms of top-level experience. Sudeva also have a good bunch of finest youngsters some came over from CD Xativa and have experience of playing in Spanish third division. Naorem is a good acquisition on loan from Mumbai City FC, Manvir Singh is also fine addition from Indian Arrows.
Mr. Gupta, explained that this season they would try full young Indian playing eleven under coach Chencho (who is 1st Bhutanese coach in I-League ever) because there’s no relegation applicable on them for the first season. Later they would add some Spanish players to compete and challenge direct entry to ISL.
I think a mid-table finish would be a marvelous achievement for this young squad.
Again a reminder, The fourteenth edition of the I-League will kick-off on January 9, 2021, in Kolkata. Eleven teams will need to enter the bio-secure bubble fourteen days prior to their first match. This year’s I League will also be having Mohammedan SC who are back in the division and have a deadly striker in Willis Plaza.
