Arsenal legend Ian Wright feels Chelsea‘s £25 million deal to with Manchester United for Jadon Sancho is a ‘great bargain’. The Englishman completed his unsuccessful spell at Old Trafford earlier this summer. He was forced to join the Blues on loan on the deadline day. As the previous manager Erik Ten Hag believed, Sancho had no spot in his squad.
The Englishman will spend the remainder of the season at Stamford Bridge. And as part of the deal, Chelsea agreed to sign him permanently for about £25 million next summer. But to activate that clause the Blues will have to finish above the 12th spot in the table.
Sancho only scored 12 goals in 83 games for Manchester United after joining from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million. But he already appears better and happier at the high-flying Chelsea, who are currently in the 2nd place.
‘In the right environment Jadon Sancho is a top player’- Ian Wright
Ian Wright, the ex-Arsenal and England striker, has encouraged Jadon Sancho to prove he is a ‘great player’ at Chelsea. He called the signing of Sancho as a ‘fantastic bargain’ for £25 million.
The 24 year-old winger scored an outstanding goal in Chelsea’s epic 4-3 comeback victory over Tottenham on Sunday. After that performance Ian stated on his podcast Wrighty’s House that, he would need to give flowers to Sancho as he played an wonderful game. Ian further added that Sancho is a player who likes to prove the haters wrong.
“About proving people wrong and feeling welcome, he obviously didn’t feel that at Man United, probably. He didn’t feel like he was at the bosom of a football club that recognized what he can do and gave him the platform to express himself. Even when he went to Dortmund last season he was proving people wrong.”
Author’s opinion :
Football.Express says Jadon Sancho must continue his form at the Stamford Bridge. After being praised by a Premier League legend like Ian Wright, it must have boosted his confidence. But he should thrive for more. The competition for the wing spot in the Chelsea squad is too much.
