Multiple reports from Italy are stating that Atalanta star Josip Ilicic will join AC Milan in this summer transfer window. Atalanta are looking to cash on their Slovenian star who has only one year left in his contract.

Milan are looking to bolster their squad, especially after the departure of Hakan Calhanoglu to Inter. Ilicic fits the profile of the player that Rossoneri are looking for.

As per reports from Italian outlets, Ilicic will join AC Milan on a €2.5m per year contract. Atalanta could receive around €4 million as the transfer fees.

Ilicic is one of the standout stars for Atalanta ever since his move to them. He is a versatile player who can be used across multiple positions in the attack. Predominantly an attacking midfielder, the Slovenian was used as a second striker, in the wings and even as the main centre-forward.

In his 149 appearances for Atalanta in all competitions, he has scored 56 times for them and assisted a further 39 times. A strong passer of the ball, Ilicic likes to take shots from long distances. He is also good at dribbling the ball and has appeared 72 times for his national side.

For AC Milan, Ilicic offers an experienced option up front, who can be deployed at multiple positions. The player too is keen for a move to Milan. Meanwhile, his age profile and the contract situation means that Atalanta are willing to sell him this summer.
