India vs Nepal ended in a 1-1 draw. To Clarify that India played their first friendly against Nepal today at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu. In addition, this is Nepal’s first game playing in front of their home crowd after the Pandemic situation. Further, this is India’s first-ever International game after the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Qatar. As the SAFF Championship is right at the edge, this India vs Nepal series of Friendlies is considered important for both sides.
Team India created many chances at the beginning, but none can pass through Nepal’s Defence. Certainly, Nepal marched their way forward after the first quarter in the first half. Further, their Winger Ayush Ghalan, rushed through the Indian half to create chances.
Soon their efforts paid off, Anjan Bista scored the opener for Nepal in the 36th minute. a lack of power from Gurpreet Singh gives a chance for Nepal to score the first goal.
Later India began the second half in an offensive manner. And the Indian Skipper Sunil Chhetri kept Nepal’s Goalkeeper super busy. At a certain moment, the Nepalese Goalkeeper even started to come out of his zone to stop the Indian Attacks.
At 60th minute Sunil Chhetri had a half-chance, and while the skipper’s ball was blocked by the post. Anirudh Thapa come and scored the leveller in the rebound.
Certainly after the equaliser, Both the teams tried hard to find the net. But the efforts went in vain and the match ended as level.
Additionally, India will face Nepal again on the 5th and 10th of September for their 2nd and final friendlies. And then the Stimac’s side will head to the Maldives to play in the SAFF Championship later this October.
