Team India would be returning after a long time due to COVID-19. The last time India played, they held Oman to a 1-1 draw and suffered a loss by 6-0 to UAE.

The Blue Tigers have landed in Doha on May 19. The team spent their time in quarantine until they received their COVID-19 test results conducted right after their arrival.

Players look confident and have a lot of self-belief as they have said that the Dubai results won’t matter or impact their 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup. As they prepare for the upcoming matches at a preparatory camp in Doha. The last India played on an international level was quite ago. When they played the friendlies in Dubai.

India will have 3 clean slates and it would be up to them what they want to write on them. The senior national team will play their first match on June 3 against the Asian giants Qatar, The next one against Bangladesh on June 7, and the last one against Afghanistan on June 15.

” The perspectives of Dubai and Doha are entirely different. In Dubai we played two different teams in two matches. That was our return to International football after 16 months”. said defender Pritam Kotal “The two matches enabled us to slap all the negatives, June will surely be better”. He further added.

In the friendly against Oman India introduced 10 debutants to World football. And Anirudh described that as an accomplishment for the Indian team. “we made a huge positive impact against Oman- that too with 10 debutants. I always look at the positives, and that was a huge result for Indian football”. said Anirudh Thapa.

The qualifiers are being played in Doha because of the ongoing pandemic. Which eliminates the traditional idea of home and away matches. The Blue Tiger are fourth in the table with 3 points, are already out of contention for the World Cup seat. But they are still hanging on for the 2023 Asian Cup in China.
