Indian Stars Hail AIFF’s Decision to Bid for AFC ASIAN CUP 2027


The All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) proclaimed its political campaign to host the AFC Asian Cup 2027 on an occasion in the capital on Wednesday (December 16, 2020), which has created an out of this world buzz across the nation among numerous stakeholders, including the players.

Blue Tigers skipper Sunil Chhetri, who has represented the Indian National team at 2 AFC Asian Cups in 2011 and 2019, declared that hosting the mega-event in Asian country is the ‘best gift’ for the supporters and having the absolute best groups from the continent participating on Indian soil are ‘immense’ .

“There is no larger honor and privilege than participating for your country and for our nation to host the AFC Asian Cup 2027 would be even larger. I feel it’ll be the sole gift for the fans and for everybody within the country,”

Iconic national team goalkeeper Subrata Paul, who received the nickname of Spiderman for his exceptional performance for Indian in the AFC Asian Cup 2011, mentioned that the nation is ‘ready’ to host the tournament and become a ‘global football destination.

The bid logo, featuring a tiger, symbolizes India’s spirit and passion to be a pacesetter in Football. The slogan, Brighter Future Together, feature the remarkable opportunity the bid presents for AFC and AIFF to work in partnership and take Indian and Asian football to the next level.

In September 2019-2020, Chennaiyin City FC midfielder Anirudh Thapa was named as AIFF Men’s Emerging Footballer of the Year. He expressed that one can look forward to a ‘carnival-like atmosphere’ in 2027.

“Looking at the length and breadth of our country, and the fact that football is loved all across, we can expect a carnival-like atmosphere for the tournament.

I’m sure the organisers , as well as the fans, will leave no stone unturned in welcoming all the teams and giving them a feel of the Indian hospitality. I feel India would be the perfect host for a tournament of such stature “

Amarjit Singh Kiyam , who lead the Indian Team in FIFA U-17 World Cup that was held on 2017,now has a place in the National Team as well.

 “The players are ‘very excited’ about the prospect of hosting the AFC Asian Cup 2027. It would be a huge privilege to host the AFC Asian Cup in 2027.

Ever since the news has come out that India is going to bid for the event, we have seen a lot of buzz and speaking for the players, I can say we are all very excited for the event to take place in India.

I am sure our fans will be very excited as well. The AIFF has done a great job in bringing big international tournaments to India and I hope we can pull off AFC Asia 2027 as well “.
