Indian Women Stars Hail AIFF’S Decision to Bid for AFC Asian Cup 2027.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced on Wednesday, to make the bid to host the AFC Asian Cup 2027, has received huge support from various stakeholders, including players.

The Indian women’s football team members are delighted of playing the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 finals in front of home fans and feel the event for the development of the game in the country. India will host the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 finals.

The country will host two major international tournaments in 2022 in the form of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

Indian Women Football Team ranks at 57th in the Worlds and 13th in Asia, much higher ranking than Men’s Team. AIFF President Praful Patel and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju recently reveled major road map to develop Indian Women Football conditions.

Ashalata Devi:

Indian Captain Ashalata Devi, who was among the three nominees for the AFC Women’s Player of the Year 2019, said that getting to play in the Asian Cup will be a ‘dream come true’ moment.

“I would like to thank the AIFF and Women’s Committee as they made a lot of efforts to bring the tournament to India. It’s a huge step for us and the entire continent’s eyes will be on us,”

She also highlighted the importance of the tournament to her and the players. She mentioned the importance of strength and conditioning training, which coach Maymol Rocky has added to the regime.

“Ever since I have been playing football, I have never shown any of my matches to my mother. I was waiting for the right moment and now in 2022, I want my mother to come and watch me play against Asia’s best teams.”

Aditi Chauhan:

Goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan feels it would be a “huge responsibility” to live up to the expectations of fans in the tournament.

Women’s football in India has been growing and bounds in recent years and with the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2020 set to be held in 2022, the two mega-events are expected to give a grand approach to the game.

“It is an amazing opportunity for us to prove and show our supporters why they should believe us when we say women’s team has the potential to play at the top level.

There is now a huge responsibility for us to put forward the image that we want our supporters to have of women’s football,”

India have never hosted the Asian Cup. They have qualified for four editions of Asia’s premier international competition. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Iran are among the four AFC Member Associations bidding to host the AFC Asian Cup 2027 alongside India.

Dalima Chhibber is the latest player from India to feature in Asian Football Confederation (AFC) video for the ‘Break the Chain’ campaign.

I am sure all the fans will be really excited with the news that India is preparing a bid for the AFC Asian world cup in 2027. Hosting will be a big boost for football in India. I am so glad that I am part of the AFC Cup.

Maymol Rocky:

Head Coach of Indian Football Team Maymol Rocky also expressed her happines over this big announcement;

India has bid for the 2027 Asian Cup hosting rights along with four other countries. The other bidders for Asia’s premier football tournament are Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan.
