Indian Women’s Football Team to tour South America in November

The Indian Women’s Football Team is going to tour South America at the latter end of November. Fixtures have been set up against Chile, Brazil, and Venezuela. The tournament will be played in Manaus, Brazil. With the AFC Women’s Asian Cup fast approaching, this competition is the perfect opportunity for the women blues to experiment and settle down with their best system.

Heavyweights Brazil who currently ranks 7th in the FIFA Women’s football rankings are expected to put the Indian Football Team through their paces. Meanwhile, With India currently at rank 57, they head into the quad-way competition as the lowest ranked team. With Venezuela and Chile ranking at 56 and 36 respectively, India will be hoping to cause upsets heading into this competition.

Talks are also underway for another quad-way competition to take place in the month of December. The teams and dates are still mere speculations as we wait for the final announcement by AIFF. With India set to host the AFC Women’s Asia Cup in 2022. As a result, The AIFF wants the Indian team to head into the competition with proper preparation and practice.

“AIFF, along with the International Relations department are constantly communicating with various member associations to arrange such games for the national team. It is our endeavor to give our team the best possible preparation before the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, which will take place in India in another two months.” – AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das

The preparations for the tournament are already underway. The training camp has been set up in the city of Jamshedpur as a result, most of the players and staff are already in the bio-bubble. Some players though are yet to join in due to their club commitments. With Gokulam Kerala FC currently competing in the AFC Women’s Club Championship, star goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan and assistant coach Priya PV are a few of the big names missing in the camp.

November 25: Brazil vs India

November 28: India vs Chile

December 1: India vs Venezuela
