Injury sidelines Mikel Merino for seven crucial matches

Arsenal signed Mikel Merino in the summer transfer window after being linked with him from a long time. Merino became the top Gunners target in the Euro 2024. Gunners signed him from Real Sociedad in a deal worth of £31.6 million. However, Merino was quickly stated to have a shoulder injury which delayed his debut. Now, its been said that his debut for Arsenal will delay further keeping him out of squad until mid October.

Arsenal fans were eager to see Mikel Merino in the Gunners jersey. However, the player suffered a shoulder injury after his move to North London. This made Merino to miss the match against Brighton. Firstly, he was said to return to action after the national break in September. However, the recent reports say that Merino will miss atleast 7 matches for Arsenal.

Merino to miss 7 matches due to injury

According to Daily Mail, Merino will be able to return after the national break in October. That means, Merino will miss 7 matches for Arsenal. He was present against Brighton game with his arm in a sling. Arsenal fans will hope Merino makes his return as soon as possible. Merino can be seen in action against Bournemouth on 19th October in Premier League. If not he can be seen against Shakhtar Donetsk on 22nd October in Champions League.

Mikel Arteta recently took time to speak about Merino. He said it was very unfortunate. Arteta added that in the first session with Arsenal, Merino suffered a shoulder injury. He said that Merino will be out for weeks. Arteta added that Gabriel fell on Merino causing a small fracture. He added that Merino was in a lot of pain. He said that there will be more tests.

In conclusion, it will be very hard weeks for Arsenal after national break. Declan Rice will also miss the North London derby due to getting a red card. Jorginho is set to start along with Thomas Partey against Tottenham Hotspurs.
