Inter and Napoli register big wins as Lazio lose in Serie A Matchweek 35

Inter Milan kept on winning after they beat Sampdoria by 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. Napoli bounced back against Spezia after registering a big 4-1 victory at the Stadio Alberto Picco. However, Lazio lost away at Fiorentina by 2-0, following this defeat they are now unlikely to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. 

The Serie A champions have got 85 points in 35 games. On the other hand, Napoli moved up to third with this victory, currently, they got 70 points in 35 games. After crawling up towards the top four spots, Lazio are now five points away from the Champions League spot. The Eagles now got 64 points in 34 games. 

The Saturday results will put big pressure on Juventus and AC Milan. Juventus will host Milan on Sunday, the importance of that match increased even more.

The results of Inter, Napoli and Lazio in Serie A:

Antonio Conte made quite a few changes after securing the Serie A title. The Nerazzurri were already 3-1 up at the interval thanks to an opener from Roberto Gagliardini and a brace from Alexis Sánchez. 

In the second half, substitute Andrea Pinamonti scored the fourth and Lautaro Martínez scored the fifth from the penalty spot to secure a comfortable victory at San Siro. 

Napoli traveled to La Spezia to keep themselves alive in the top four race. Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski opened the score sheet on the 15th-minute mark followed by a superb Victor Osimhen brace before the first half almost secured a victory for Gennaro Gattuso’s side. 

Roberto Piccoli scored an equaliser in the second half. But, Hirving Lozano scored the fourth and finished any hope of a miracle for the home side.

Lazio lost to Fiorentina by two goals from Dusan Vlahovic on either side of the half. With this brace, Vlahovic has scored 21 goals in Serie A this season. He is currently equal with second place Romelu Lukaku in the race for the golden boot. 

The second half substitute Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira was shown a red card after picking up two yellow cards. This defeat will complicate their participation in the Champions League next season.
