Inter inches closer to Serie A title as AC Milan and Juventus drop points

Inter Milan are now just one step away from their 19th Serie A title after great Saturday results in the league for the Nerazzurri fans. Inter beat Bologna via a Romelu Lukaku goal where AC Milan and Juventus the other two contenders for the title drew their respective matches.

These results mean the Nerazzurri are 8 points clear at the top of the league table with a game in hand. They got 68 points in 28 games with a goal difference of +40.

Juventus slipped down to 4th place from third with this draw against Torino. They now have 56 points in 28 games. Atalanta won on Saturday which put them in 3rd place. Napoli are 5th with 56 points in 28 games. 

Rossoneri are holding their 2nd spot but their UEFA Champions League qualification is under real threat. Stefano Pioli’s side have 60 points in 29 games. Only four points separating them from the 5th place Napoli who got a game in hand. 

Saturday results of Inter, Juventus, AC Milan and the others in Serie A:

AC Milan drew at home in San Siro against Sampdoria by 1-1. The Blucerchiati led by an early second-half goal from 38-year-old forward Fabio Quagliarella. However, Milan had more than 30 minutes to win the game against a 10 man Sampdoria side. In the end, Norwegian youngster Jens Petter Hauge salvaged a point for the Rossoneri.

Inter got the crucial three points to solidify the first place. They beat Bologna 1-0 at the Renato Dall’Ara. Lukaku scored the crucial goal at the 31st-minute mark of the game. In the end, Inter’s defense was watertight and they earned a very crucial victory in the title race. 

Juventus drew in the Turin derby against Torino at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. The Bianconeri led the game after Federico Chiesa scored the opener. But, Torino came back brilliantly and Antonio Sanabria scored two goals in each half to give the lead to Torino. In the 79th-minute mark, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the equalizer to give them one point. 

Top four race heating up in the Serie A

The race to the top four spots is getting much more interesting than the title race. As Atalanta beat Udinese in a thrilling game by 3-2. Luis Muriel scored two goals and Duvan Zapata scored the other. Which put them in third place. They are currently only two points behind the 2nd place Milan.

Napoli won 4-3 against Crotone in an extremely entertaining game at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. This win put them level with 4th place Juventus ahead of the huge game against Juventus on 7th April Wednesday. 

Roma went very far from 4th place after they drew against Sassuolo by 2-2. They are sitting in 7th place with 51 points in 29 games. Lazio are slowly but steadily crawling up to be in contention for the top four, they beat Spezia by 2-1 and with this win, they move onto 6th place with 52 points in 28 games.

Inter will play against Sassuolo on 7th April Wednesday and Juventus will meet Napoli on the same day, These two games will decide who will potentially win the Serie A. If Inter manages to win the game then they will definitely become the champions of Italy after a decade. However, the other side of Milan is in danger of losing the top four spot.
